New plant to process half of the corn grown in the regionConstruction of a new corn processing plant, scheduled for commissioning in 2020, was completed in Volgograd.
The principal investor of the project is NewBio. The company is planning to process 133 thousand tons of corn on the plant per year, which is half of all the corn grain produced in the region.
A part of processed products will be exported, since a number of foreign countries are interested in purchasing corn starch, corn germ and corn gluten produced on the plant.
Construction of auxiliary facilities and infrastructure, including the 48-kilometer gas pipeline, is currently underway. Moreover, the plant will provide more than 300 new jobs in the region.
This year the farmers of the Volgograd region harvested record volumes of grain crops – 4,4 million tons. At the same time, soybean harvest amounted to 1,2 million tons, while sunflower harvest exceeded 1 million tons.
